The reason your hair isn't growing.....

Want to start your hair growth journey but don't know where to start?

You need to start by figuring out your hair’s porosity level.

Hair porosity refers to your hair's ability to absorb and retain moisture. There are three main levels of hair porosity

Low Porosity:

The cuticle layer is tightly packed, making it difficult for moisture to enter the hair shaft. As a result, products may sit on the hair's surface and not penetrate well.

Signs: Hair feels greasy or weighed down easily, takes a long time to wet or dry, and may resist absorbing conditioners or hair oils.
Care Tips: Use lighter products, avoid heavy creams or oils, and consider using heat (like a warm towel) when conditioning to help products penetrate.

                                        Medium Porosity

The cuticle is in a balanced state, allowing moisture to be absorbed and retained efficiently, making this type of hair the easiest to manage.

Signs
  •     Hair generally holds styles well, absorbs moisture and products evenly, and has a natural shine.
Care Tips: Maintain healthy habits with regular trims, hydration, and protecting hair from excessive heat or environmental stressors.

High Porosity: The cuticle is raised or gaps exist, allowing moisture to easily enter and escape. Hair can be prone to frizz and damage as it can lose moisture quickly.

Signs: Hair may feel dry, frizzy, and porous to the touch. It may absorb moisture quickly but can lose it just as fast, requiring more frequent hydration.

Care Tips: Use heavier, moisture-rich products and oils to lock in hydration, and protect hair from further damage with gentle handling and less heat.

How to test your hair's porosity:

  1. The Float Test: Take a strand of clean, dry hair and place it in a glass of water.
  2. If it floats, you likely have low porosity.
  3. If it sinks slowly, it’s medium porosity.
  4. If it sinks quickly, your hair is likely high porosity.

Understanding your hair's porosity can help you choose the right products and treatments for your hair's specific needs.
