The Abby Yung Method Step 3: Clarifying Shampoo

The next step of Abby Yung's hair method is clarifying shampoo. Most scalp issues can be solved by using deep cleaning shampoos. It is recommended to use it at-least once a week. It is also okay to use every single wash if your hair needs it.  The first step is figuring out which type of clarifying shampoo is needed. For some brands clarifying could be just removing hard water deposits. Other brands focus on cleaning an oily scalp or cleaning up residue.

To find out what works best for you is to try different kinds and see what suits your hair/scalp needs.

For normal to dry scalps these are the ones she recommends:

1) L'Oreal Metal Detox ($37-46)

The issue that I've always had with my hair is it breaking off like crazy, and wouldn't (or couldn't) grow fast enough to make up for it, anyway my hair was color treated. I have medium-length, curly frizzy hair which tends to be dry This shampoo leaves my hair feeling clean, soft, and lightweight without stripping moistureIt also lathers up nicely using only a little over a quarter coin size amount. I tried everything. I've been using this shampoo for a few months now. I use it about once a week to try to make it last longer since it's so expensive. I've noticed a difference in the quality of my hair, it's softer and I don't have to clean my hairbrush as often.

2.)  Living Proof Clarifying Detox Shampoo ( $36)

'
I love this shampoo! I have always struggled with dandruff and build-up on my hair and scalp and using this works wonders. It truly makes your scalp feel clean and free of build-up. It is really pricey but I would probably stick with a drugstore brand that does the same job.

These both are great for removing water deposits and have a creamier texture.

The next ones that are recommended is:

 1. )  Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Purifying Shampoo ($4)

The wonderful thing about this shampoo is it super inexpensive and effective. This works perfect if you have an oily scalp. It helps my hair feel clean. It helps my hair feel moisturized and not really dry. It has a great smell, nothing to overpowering.

2.)  L'Oreal Paris EverPure Clarify Shampoo ($10)

I like how after using it my hair feels soft again and is shiny, It smells wonderful and lathers nicely. I was using a more expensive shampoo that did work but got to expensive to maintain. Love that this is affordable and gets the job done just as well as a high end product. Will definitely be purchasing this shampoo again.

These are recommend for hair that is heavy and weighed down.

The next ones are for heavy duty cleaning and are more of high end products. These are for normal to oily scalps.

1.) PEPTIDE PREP™(K18) Detox Shampoo ( $38)

I have not yet tried this one. This is probably the most expensive product that Abby suggests. The fact that this goes for $75 is beyond me. If I ever do end up purchasing this one, I'll update my blog.

 2.)  OUAI  Detox Shampoo ($32)

This is the one I ended up using because I feel like my hair always has dandruff and build up. I realized with this one it is better to double shampoo with this alone. You will notice a huge difference with how clean your hair is. I usually use this one every 2 weeks.

Drugstore Recommendations are:

  1. Dove Scalp + Hair Therapy Density Boost Clarifying Shampoo ($10)

I love that this brand is so gentle and nourishing on the hair. I did not expect any less with this product. It removed all the buildup on my hair without leaving my hair dry. Or stripping my hair of its natural oils. It left my hair amazingly soft. It has left my hair full of life.  This is a fantastic option for anyone looking to boost their hair's density and achieve a thorough cleanse.

    2.)  Pantene Pro-V Volume & Body Shampoo ($6)

I've always been skeptical in using a pantene product because of rumors saying it's damaging for hair. But I love how light weight this shampoo is! It de-tangles my hair really well and does a great job on getting my scalp clean.

The best ones that remove build up and oil are the pantene Volume and the Ouai Deotx shampoo!
